Inokenty Korshunov

Painting and graphic art are the primary language through which Ukrainian artist Inokentii Korshunov (b. 1970) perceives and interprets the world. He received his professional training in the Painting Department of the Odesa Art College. The academic tradition of drawing and painting became the foundation of his practice, later enriched by other techniques and ways of working with images — from book illustration to digital media.

Nature occupies a special place in his painting. He is drawn to the inner balance of an image, the rhythm of natural forms, and the subtle relationships that emerge through color, light, and space and reveal themselves to the attentive observer.

Book illustration also holds an important place in his professional practice. Many years of working with publishers and with very different kinds of texts — from individual illustrations to the complete visual development of a book — require a different visual logic: the ability to follow a narrative and to sense the character, rhythm, and atmosphere of a story. Here, the experience of a painter and draftsman comes together with the task of visual storytelling.

The artist lives and works in Ukraine, participates in exhibitions and art projects, develops his own series of paintings, and continues to collaborate with book publishers. His works are held in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
